Staying safe on Nannyz

Staying safe on Nannyz

Nannyz helps families and sitters find each other, and the choice of who to hire or work for is always yours. These steps will help you make that choice safely.

In an emergency, or if a child is in immediate danger, call 999 (Police) or 995 (ambulance). To tell us about an ad or member, use the “Report this ad” link at the bottom of any ad.

1. Read the profile carefully

  • Look at their reviews from other Nannyz members, and any references from families they cared for before joining.
  • Check how recently they were active and how long they’ve been a member.
  • Understand what the badges mean:
✓ ID VerifiedOur team has checked this person’s photo ID matches their name.

2. Talk before you meet

  • Have a phone or video call first. Ask about their experience, the ages they’ve cared for, first aid training, and how they’d handle an emergency.
  • Ask for one or two recent referees and call them.
  • Trust your instincts. If answers are vague or something feels off, it’s fine to say no.

3. Ask about training and certificates

Singapore has no public “working with children” check, so the profile, references and your own questions matter most.

  • Ask to see certificates for any training they mention, such as first aid / CPR or infant-care courses.
  • Ask whether they have cared for children of a similar age, and call those families.
  • An ID Verified badge confirms their name matches their photo ID. It isn’t a background check, so don’t rely on it alone.

4. Meet safely

  • Meet in a public place, or at home with another adult present, the first time.
  • Do a short, paid trial session while you’re home before leaving them alone with your children.
  • Sitters: tell a friend where you’re going and when you expect to be back, and leave if anything feels wrong.

5. Agree the details in writing

  • Hours, rate, duties, how and when payment is made, and what happens with cancellations.
  • Emergency contacts, allergies, medications and house rules.
  • Keep a record of what you agreed, even if it’s just a text message.

6. Watch out for scams

  • Never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you haven’t met, and never pay for “equipment” or “agency fees” up front.
  • Be wary of anyone who wants to move quickly off Nannyz, overpays and asks for money back, or won’t do a video call.
  • Nannyz will never ask for your password or bank details by email or phone.
  • If something seems wrong, stop contact and use the “Report this ad” link at the bottom of their ad so we can look into it.
